During the workshop, experts shared that lavender farming has significantly increased the income of farmers in the Bhaderwah region—up to four times higher compared to traditional crops. Lavender requires no pesticides, minimal water, and naturally helps repel harmful insects, making it a highly sustainable and environment-friendly crop.
District Coordinator Sukhjeet Singh stated that lavender cultivation is highly suitable for several high-altitude regions of Punjab, including parts of Rupnagar district. He emphasized that this model could bring new income opportunities for farmers while also promoting eco-friendly agriculture.

Business Blasters Nodal Incharge Prabhjeet Singh added that lavender-based products can become an excellent startup model for students. Plans are underway to introduce lavender product development within schools, enabling students to explore entrepreneurship through essential oils, fragrances, soaps, and other value-added items.
The District Environment Team and Business Blasters Team have jointly begun framing strategies to promote lavender farming in Rupnagar. This initiative is expected to inspire students, support sustainability, and open new doors of innovation and self-reliance for the youth of Punjab.
