6.50 lakh saplings will be planted across the district dedicated to the 650th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji
Rupnagar, June 09: The district administration will plant 6.50 lakh saplings in the district dedicated to the 650th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji. Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Mr. Aditya Dechalwal today held a meeting with the senior officers of various departments of the district at the District Administrative Complex and reviewed the preparations.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner informed that as per the guidelines of the Punjab Government, saplings are to be planted on a large scale across the district on the occasion of the 650th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji. He said that the aim of this campaign is to make the society aware about greenery along with preserving the environment.
Mr. Dechalwal instructed the officers of all the departments to identify suitable places for planting saplings as per the targets set for their respective departments and to complete the sapling planting process on time. He said that along with planting the saplings, their maintenance and protection should also be ensured so that the real objective of this campaign can be fulfilled.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Block Development and Panchayat Officers to motivate them to plant maximum number of trees at the village level in collaboration with the Panchayats. Apart from this, the Education Department, Sports Department and other departments were asked to plant trees around their institutions and offices and connect the people with this campaign.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were also held regarding coordination between departments, availability of plants, record keeping and progress reports for the success of the sapling planting campaign.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Dr. Akshita Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner (V) Chandrajyoti Singh, SDM Sri Chamkaur Sahib Pradeep Singh Bains, SDM Nangal Sachin Pathak, SDM Morinda Chetan Bangar, District Forest Officer Kanwardeep Singh, District Development and Panchayat Officer Baljinder Singh Grewal, District Education Officer Mr. Prem Kumar Mittal, District Food Supply Officer Dr. Kimmy Vaneet Kaur Sethi, District Sports Officer Mr. Jagjivan Singh Gill, BDPO Rupnagar Mr. Amit Sharma, BDPO Sri Anandpur Sahib Mr. Ishan Chaudhary, BDPO Sri Chamkaur Sahib Mr. Ajaib Singh along with other high officials of the district were present.
