Special Camp Organized at PHC Kiratpur Sahib Under Prime Minister's Safe Motherhood Campaign
Kiratpur Sahib 09 June: On the occasion of the successful completion of 10 years of the Prime Minister Safe Motherhood Campaign, special health camps were organized for pregnant women under PHC Kiratpur Sahib. These camps were organized under the instructions of Civil Surgeon Rupnagar Dr. Raman Kumar Gupta and under the leadership of SMO Kiratpur Sahib Dr. Surjit Singh. The main objective of the camp was to maintain the health of the mother and child and reduce the mortality rate.
Dr. Surjit Singh said that under this campaign, camps are organized for special check-up of pregnant women on the 9th of every month. During this, along with routine check-up of women, their health is completely monitored. Block SI Sikander Singh informed that as per the instructions of the Health Department Punjab, these special camps were organized at all the AAK centers under it besides PHC.
Female Medical Officer Dr. Anu Sharma said that the main objective of this campaign is to make pregnant women aware about good health care. She said that women were given information about the importance of nutritious diet, green vegetables, milk and protein rich diet. Apart from this, free tests were conducted in the camps and medicines were also provided as per the requirement.
Medical Officer Dr. Jangjit said that during the camp, women were motivated for institutional delivery and high risk cases were also identified. On this occasion, Jagmohan Kaur, Sukhdeep Singh, Dr. Ambika and Sunita, all CHOs, multipurpose health workers and ASHA workers were present.
