Special health check-up camp organized for pregnant women in the district, 763 pregnant women were examined.
Rupnagar, June 9: On the occasion of completion of 10 years of the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Matratva Abhiyan being run by the government, special health check-up camps are being organized in the health institutions of the district for pregnant women to strengthen the health of pregnant women in Rupnagar district. Under this campaign, a free check-up camp was organized for pregnant women at Civil Hospital Rupnagar today.
On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Rupnagar Dr. Raman Gupta informed that on June 9, special camps are being organized in government health institutions of the district by doctors specializing in women’s diseases for complete health check-up of pregnant women. He said that today, health check-up of 763 pregnant women was done in government health institutions.
He said that the main objective of this campaign is to monitor the health of women during pregnancy on a regular basis and to identify any risks in advance and provide appropriate treatment.
Dr. Raman Gupta appealed to all pregnant women to actively participate in these camps. He said, “The health of the mother and the child is our top priority. Timely check-ups can not only prevent complications but also save the lives of the mother and the child.”
The Civil Surgeon said that during this camp, several free health services were provided to pregnant women, including complete pregnancy check-up, ultrasound, blood test, blood pressure and sugar check-up, tetanus vaccination as per requirement, distribution of iron-folic acid and calcium tablets and provision of de-worming tablets.
He said that through this campaign, high-risk pregnant women are identified and provided with special care and referral services. This has significantly reduced the maternal and child mortality rate and ensured safe pregnancy and delivery. On this occasion, the pregnant women who came to the camp were given refreshments. He said that the Health Department is also taking special efforts to make people aware so that these services can reach every pregnant woman.
On this occasion, Dr. Neeraj, a specialist in gynecology, said that “A healthy mother is the foundation of a healthy family and society,” hence every woman should undergo regular check-ups during her pregnancy. He appealed to all pregnant women to attend this camp being held at their nearest government health center on the 9th and 23rd of every month and take advantage of this free facility to ensure their and their child’s health.
On this occasion, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Navroop Kaur, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Anjali Chaudhary, Senior Medical Officer Civil Hospital Rupnagar Dr. Rupinder Singh Gill, Pediatrician Dr. Gursewak Singh, Dr. Harleen Kaur, District Mass Media Officers Gurmeet Kaur and Ravinder Singh, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ritu, paramedical staff and dignitaries were present.
