Sports Watan Punjab Diyan-2026 has made the playgrounds a common platform for people of all ages and classes.
Rupnagar, September 30: The district level competitions under ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2026’ Season-4 at Nehru Stadium Rupnagar are a platform to showcase the sports talent of players of different age groups, while these games are also a clear expression of the Punjab government’s commitment to connect every section of the society with sports. Along with children, youth and the elderly, government employees are also participating in these competitions with full enthusiasm and enthusiasm.Participating in these sports events, a 51-year-old government employee working as a junior engineer in a thermal plant, belonging to village Chhajja of block Nurpur Bedi, also showed his sporting prowess in the ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2026’. He secured the first position while participating in the 800-meter race in the 51 to 60 years age group and completed his race in 3 minutes 14 seconds.
He said that he had started regular practice from June 1 with the aim of participating in ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’. This achievement of his shows that age is not a barrier to participating in sports, but with strong willpower, regular practice and hard work, one can make a mark on the sports field at any age.
Similarly, ETT teacher Harpreet Kaur of Government Primary School Haveli Kalan, Block Rupnagar said that ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ is a very good platform for sports lovers of all age groups. She said that this initiative started by the Punjab Government is providing an opportunity to lakhs of players every year to connect with sports, showcase their talent and strengthen the spirit of competition.
Harpreet Kaur said that she has been fond of playing badminton since childhood and every year she has been participating enthusiastically in ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ and has been achieving positions in various sports. She said that apart from badminton, she has participated in various competitions including running, long jump, long tennis and shot put. This year too, she has won a prize by participating in the long jump competition, while she is also participating in the long tennis competition.
He said that along with teaching, he is also the head of the sports department of his school. Every year, the students of his school participate in block, district and state level sports competitions and achieve various achievements. He himself also fulfills his passion for playing by performing the duty of stage management during these games every year. He also told that during the National School Games held at Sri Anandpur Sahib, he had performed his responsibility as the stage secretary.
