People’s participation strengthening the campaign against drugs

Appeal to facilitate treatment for drug users and share information about drug peddlers with police

Nangal/Sri Anandpur Sahib, September 29: The ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’ campaign, launched by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann against drug abuse, has entered its 551st day. Under the leadership of Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, door-to-door awareness activities and public meetings are being conducted in villages and wards of the Sri Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency to educate people about the harmful effects of drugs and encourage their active participation in making the campaign successful.

The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is conducting a comprehensive campaign against drug abuse. As part of this initiative, the administration, police, Village Defence Committees, social and religious organisations, panchayats, councillors and other prominent members of society are working together to involve people in the campaign in the Nangal and Sri Anandpur Sahib areas.

As part of the ongoing campaign, meetings were held today with residents of Ward No. 1 in Nangal, Manakpur, and villages including Dher, Mehan, Khamera, Gajpur, Khamera Lower and Agampur in the Sri Anandpur Sahib area. Teams led by SDM Sachin Pathak, Sukhpal Singh, DSP Jashandeep Singh and Naveenpal are motivating residents to stay away from drugs and encouraging them to protect young people from the harmful effects of substance abuse.

Mohit Diwan, Vice President, along with Daya Singh and other workers associated with the campaign, are conducting door-to-door awareness activities and interacting with families to spread the message against drug abuse.

During the awareness meetings, residents were informed that individuals suffering from drug addiction can be taken to de-addiction centres for treatment and proper guidance. People were also urged to share credible information regarding the sale or supply of drugs with the police and concerned authorities. Residents were assured that their cooperation is vital in taking effective action against drug-related activities.

During the campaign, families and village representatives are also being encouraged to play an active role in preventing young people from falling into drug abuse. Emphasis is being laid on collective responsibility and community participation to create a safer and healthier environment for the younger generation.

Executive Officer Sangeet Kumar, Sumit Agnisandal, Sarpanch Amrik, Lucky Rada, Dr. Navpreet, Maninder Singh, Harminder Kumar, Ladi, Honey, Sarpanch Gopal Sharma, BDPO Manjit Singh, Dr. Nishchal Sharma, Sarabjit Singh, Gurdev Singh and residents from various villages were among those present.
