DEWATS System
Rupnagar, October 1 :Under the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa-2026’ campaign, an awareness program was organized today at village Bahadurgarh under the ‘Swachhta Gyan Yatra’. On this occasion, students of St. Carmel School, village Katli and Government Senior Secondary School, village Lodhimajra were given detailed information about DEWATS (Decentralized Wastewater Treatment System).

During this, the students were made aware about the importance of wastewater management i.e. scientific and sustainable management of wastewater, various processes of wastewater treatment and purification, environmental protection and reuse of treated water. They were told that DEWATS system can play an important role for effective management of wastewater in villages and small settlements.

The students were also told that proper management of wastewater helps in protecting water resources and the environment as well as ensuring a clean and healthy environment in the villages. Water conservation and conservation of natural resources can also be promoted through proper reuse of treated water.
Sarpanch Mrs. Amandeep Kaur, members of village Bahadurgarh Gram Panchayat and villagers were present in this awareness program. Apart from this, Executive Engineer Eng. Sarabjit Singh, SES Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, SDE Eng. Harmanpreet Singh, JE Eng. Aditya Singh and other departmental officers and employees from the district level staff of DWSS were also present.
The officials motivated the students to actively participate in cleanliness drives and spread awareness about waste water management, sanitation and environmental protection among their families and communities.
This awareness program proved to be an important initiative towards further reinforcing the message of ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ as well as creating awareness among the students about the activities being carried out under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and the scientific management of wastewater.
