PMSMA and Mamata Diwas organized for the health protection of pregnant women and children
High-risk pregnancies are identified through free screening of pregnant women.
Sri Anandpur Sahib 23rd September: The Health Department is providing special health services under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Matritva Abhiyan and ‘Mamta Diwas’ with the aim of ensuring the health security of pregnant women and newborns and reducing maternal mortality rate. These activities were conducted at the local Bhai Jaita Ji Civil Hospital under the guidance of Dr. Vivek Kumar, Civil Surgeon Rupnagar and under the guidance of Dr. Harinder Singh, Senior Medical Officer.
Dr. Sunaina Gupta, Gynecologist, said that under PMSMA, pregnant women, especially those in their second and third trimesters, are examined free of cost by specialist doctors on the 9th and 23rd of every month. During this, high-risk pregnancies are identified and timely treatment and necessary care are ensured.
Dr. Aparajita Dharmani said that weekly ‘Mamata Divas’ is also being organized in government health institutions. Pregnant women and children are vaccinated with the help of ANM and ASHA workers. Women are given iron-folic acid tablets to prevent anemia and are also made aware about nutritious diet. On this occasion, Seema Devi LHV, Kulwinder Kaur ANM and all ASHA workers were present.
