Sri Anandpur Sahib: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today once again made it clear that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s priority is Punjab and its people, while the Congress, BJP and Akali Dal are embroiled in a power struggle. Addressing a Lok Milani programme in Jindwadi village, he claimed that canal water now reaches 80 per cent of Punjab’s farmlands, compared to only 22 per cent before the AAP government, and the target is to take this to 100 per cent.
The Chief Minister also declared that Punjab needs to distance itself from the BJP and the Akali Dal to protect its water, Chandigarh, and Punjab University. Highlighting the government’s 14,000-kilometer canal water pipeline network, free electricity, merit-based jobs, and quality education, he said the government is working to build a prosperous and prosperous Punjab.
Sharing excerpts from the public meeting, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann wrote on Twitter, “Shared my heartfelt feelings with the people of Jindwadi village in Sri Anandpur Sahib. Traditional parties have always played the politics of power and nepotism, but our government is working for the common people. We have provided merit-based jobs, excellent education, 14,000 kilometers of pipelines to bring canal water to farms, and free electricity to the youth. To accelerate the development of villages, we also handed over cheques of Rs 20 lakh each to six Panchayats. Our sole aim is to create a prosperous and progressive ‘Rangla Punjab’. Addressing the gathering during the Lok Milan, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “During the last four and a half years of our government’s tenure, we have worked diligently for the welfare of the people of the state and the progress of Punjab. On the other hand, the opposition parties have always ruthlessly looted the state and exploited the people by plundering their resources. These people deserve no mercy and should be taught a lesson for their sins.”
He said, “Till a few days ago, Akali leader Sukhbir Badal was campaigning against the BJP, but now he has resorted to force to form an alliance with the BJP to gain power in the state. Their sole aim is to destroy the state by gaining power without any ideological affinity, which will be extremely disastrous for Punjab. These people are opportunists who have no concern for the state. I appeal to the people to never fall prey to the misleading tactics of these parties who have no concern for Punjab.”
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “These parties have a tainted record of working against the state and its people and they can never be forgiven. The BJP is suffering from an anti-Punjab mentality and has always done injustice to Punjab, be it the issues of Panjab University, Chandigarh, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal, Harike Canal, Republic Day tableaux, Rural Development Fund (RDF) or border area funds.”
He further said, “BJP’s hands are stained with the murder of more than 700 farmers of Punjab who were martyred during the protest against the black agricultural laws.”
The Chief Minister said, “AAP is spreading its wings across the country due to its pro-people and development-oriented policies. The party’s victory in the local body elections in Rajasthan is a living proof of this. Traditional parties have always fooled the common man with their baseless and divisive tactics. Gone are the days when these parties played the game of ‘cut him down, I’ll climb’ and waited for their turn to come to power.”
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “In fact, these parties protected each other’s interests during their tenure in power, due to which their misdeeds never came to light. Today, people are choosing AAP, and its election symbol, the broom, is cleaning up the political system of the state and the country. Therefore, no stone will be left unturned.”
Taking the Akali Dal to task, the Chief Minister said, “During their long misrule, the Akalis committed the sin of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, protected the culprits of this heinous crime and allowed firing on innocent people. The Akalis ruthlessly looted the state, besides emotionally hurting the psyche of Punjabis and protecting various mafias in the state. Every vote cast for the Akalis will be in favor of sacrilege.”
He said, “The Akali leadership can never be forgiven as it was responsible for the genocide of several generations in the state, as during their long misrule the drug trade was protected and flourished. People will not fall prey to the misleading propaganda of these parties and will teach them a befitting lesson in the coming days.”
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “During his days in power, he ruthlessly looted the state’s wealth and pushed the youth of Punjab into drug addiction.”
Taking aim at Akali leader Sukhbir Badal, he said, “Sukhbir Badal is unaware of ground realities as he has spent his entire life in luxuries and luxurious surroundings. Sukhbir Badal is a convent educated student who does not even know the basic geographical condition of the state, yet he wants to capture power in Punjab. Leave aside everything else, the former Deputy Chief Minister cannot even differentiate between the basic crops of the state as he has very little knowledge about the basic issues.”
The Chief Minister claimed, “I am working hard to ensure unprecedented development of the state and with each passing day we are taking many new public welfare initiatives to raise the standard of living of the people. Unlike the old leaders, I have not asked for even a single penny from the government treasury, but have ensured that every rupee of taxpayers’ money is spent wisely for the welfare of the people.”
He said, “Being a son and brother of the people, I have focused on sharing the pain and suffering of the people instead of living a luxurious life like the leaders of the past. No ruler before has come among the people in this manner to discuss their problems in detail and solve them with a missionary spirit.”
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Those arrogant politicians, instead of meeting the people, always confined themselves to the high walls of their big mansions and now they are scared of every move of the state government. On the contrary, I have always been in the field to take feedback from the people to formulate development-oriented and citizen-centric policies, which has given a big boost to the development of the state.”
The Chief Minister said, “The AAP government is using every penny of the state treasury for the welfare of the people of the state. More than 90 percent of the families in the state are getting free electricity. Even farmers are getting electricity during the day today, which never happened before.”
“People’s tax money belongs to the state and we are spending it wisely for the welfare of the people. People’s money is coming back to the people through development, schools, hospitals and roads,” he said.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The Punjab government is working for the people and has taken several major initiatives like providing free electricity to homes, corruption-free jobs to over 70,000 youth, better roads, quality education and healthcare, building infrastructure, among others, which were ignored by the old leaders.”
He said, “3,100 sports stadiums are being built in the state to wean the youth away from the menace of drug addiction. We have given priority to education and have taken revolutionary initiatives in the education sector to change the lives of the people.”
The Chief Minister said, “No amount of freebies or concessional cards can eliminate poverty or other social evils from the state, but education is the key that can raise the standard of living of the people and bring them out of this cycle. Therefore, our government is continuously making efforts to improve the level of education to empower the common man.”
He said, “45,000 kilometres of roads are being repaired and upgraded for the convenience of the people of the state.”
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “After I assumed office, the area under canal irrigation has increased to 80 per cent, which has greatly benefited the farmers.”
The Chief Minister said, “To provide comprehensive healthcare services to the people, the State Government has launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’, the first of its kind in the country, which provides cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh for every resident family of Punjab. It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that Punjab is the first Indian state to provide such comprehensive healthcare coverage, which has significantly reduced the financial burden on the general public while ensuring quality healthcare services.”
The Chief Minister further said, “Under the ‘Mawan Dhiyaan Satkar Yojana’, every female beneficiary above 18 years of age is receiving notifications on their mobile phones from July 1 about financial assistance of Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 in case of SC women. These funds will be transferred directly to bank accounts and women already receiving social security pension will also be eligible. 97 percent of women in Punjab have benefited from this scheme and the state government has allocated Rs 9,300 crore in the budget.”
