Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains attended the 36th Chhinj Mela of Majri Gujjars
Kiratpur Sahib, September 22: During the traditional 36th Chhinj Mela held at Majri Gujjar, Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains specially attended and encouraged the wrestlers. On this occasion, a large number of local residents, sports lovers and people of the villages reached the fair. The Cabinet Minister said that such fairs play an important role in strengthening our ancient culture, traditional sports and community cohesion.
Harjot Singh Bains said that the land of Punjab has always given renowned players to the country and the world in the field of sports. Chhinjh is an ancient and heritage game of Punjab, with which the hard work, passion and sense of fitness of Punjabis are associated. He said that today there is a need to connect the younger generation with traditional sports and further encourage sports activities at the village level.
The Cabinet Minister said that fairs held in rural areas are not only a means of entertainment, but they are also an important means of passing on our cultural heritage to the next generation. He said that the artistry and sportsmanship displayed by the wrestlers in the Chhinjh fairs motivates the youth to remain physically fit and stay away from drugs.
He congratulated the organizers of the fair and the villagers and said that such events should be held continuously so that our traditional sports and folk heritage remain alive. He met the wrestlers participating in the fair, encouraged them and wished them well for the future. On this occasion, people from different sections also met the Cabinet Minister.
