Farmers made aware about not burning stubble

Sri Chamkaur Sahib, September 29: SDM Sri Chamkaur Sahib, Sri Amrik Singh Sidhu, PCS, organized a stubble management camp today at Farid and Garhi villages of Sub Division Sri Chamkaur Sahib.
On this occasion, the SDM, while addressing the farmers of the villages, said that burning stubble reduces the fertility of the land of the fields, pollutes the environment and also causes serious problems to the passers-by on the roads. Therefore, instead of burning stubble, farmers should spread it in the fields, make bales through balers and use other alternatives.
He said that the Agriculture Department is providing machinery like super seeder, baler etc. to the farmers through subsidy. Meetings are also being held with the machine owners in this regard so that stubble can be managed on time.
He also appealed to the farmers to harvest paddy on time and not bring paddy with high moisture content to the market so that there is no problem.
On this occasion, Agriculture Officer Sri Chamkaur Sahib, representatives of Punjab Pollution Control Board Rupnagar, Sri Manjit Singh DSP Sri Chamkaur Sahib and other officers/employees were also present.
