River Festival and Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela to Be Held in Rupnagar from November 21 to December 1

Deputy Commissioner Aditya Dechalwal says the mela will boost marketing and sales of products made by Self-Help Groups and MSMEs

Rupnagar, October 27: With the aim of promoting tourism, showcasing cultural diversity and providing marketing opportunities to local entrepreneurs and self-help groups, the Rupnagar District Administration will organise the River Festival and Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela from November 21 to December 1 at the new bus stand opposite Nehru Stadium in Rupnagar.

Providing details about the events, Deputy Commissioner Aditya Dechalwal said the River Festival would feature a wide range of cultural and entertainment activities, including musical performances, stage programmes, fashion shows, folk dances and performances by artists from different states.

He added that food stalls, swings, amusement rides and other recreational activities would also be major attractions. The festival is expected to offer families and visitors an opportunity to enjoy entertainment while experiencing the rich cultural diversity of different regions.

The Deputy Commissioner said the Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela would primarily focus on promoting products manufactured by Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The mela will provide these groups and businesses with an effective platform to display and sell their products and connect with a wider customer base.

He emphasised that such fairs play an important role in helping entrepreneurs showcase their products, expand their businesses, establish connections with new customers and strengthen their economic activities.

Dechalwal further said that the mela would provide an important opportunity for self-help groups, particularly women entrepreneurs, to showcase their skills, hard work and entrepreneurial potential. By creating new avenues for marketing and sales, the initiative would encourage women’s economic empowerment and promote self-employment.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the River Festival and Punjab Sakhi Shakti Mela would not only provide entertainment to the public but also give a significant boost to local trade, entrepreneurship and cultural activities.

He added that the district administration would make the necessary arrangements to ensure the successful organisation of both events and provide a pleasant experience for visitors, participants and local entrepreneurs.
