Five gambling persons arrested with Rs. 8500, 6750 ML. Illegal liquor and 1 drug addict arrested
Rupnagar, October 22: In order to implement the “War Against Drugs” campaign being run by the Punjab Government at the ground level, the District Rupnagar Police is continuously taking action against drug dealers.
Giving information in this regard, Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar S. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that under the “War Against Drugs” campaign being run by the Rupnagar Police against drug smugglers and anti-social elements, the District Police has arrested NDPS In various cases of the Act, a person addicted to drugs was arrested, five people who were involved in gambling were arrested and Rs. 8500/- were recovered from them and one person was arrested and 6750 ML. Illicit liquor was recovered from him.
He further informed that in continuation of the “War Against Drugs” campaign, the District Police checked drug smugglers and bad elements through roadblocks and patrols at various places, during which the Nangal police station arrested Lakhan Kumar, a resident of Nangal, a drug addict and registered a case against him under the NDPS Act and the Sri Anandpur Sahib police station arrested Roshan, a resident of Lodhipur village near the railway crossing, and 8500 ML. Illicit liquor was recovered from him and a case was registered against him under the Excise Act.
Apart from this, he said that on the basis of confidential information, the police party of Nangal police station arrested Adarish Khan Hall resident of Ghanoli, Asif Hall resident of village Khuaspura, Sunil Kumar Hall resident of Badi Haveli Rupnagar, Banke Lal Hall resident of Ghanoli and Mantosh resident of village Khuaspura who were playing gambling and recovered Rs. 8500 from them and a case was registered against them under the Gambling Act.
SSP Rupnagar appealed to the public to fully cooperate with the police to eliminate the menace of drugs and if any person is involved in drug trafficking/smuggling in their area, then his information should be shared on Safe Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline number 97791-00200 (WhatsApp chatbot) or the district police number.
