Rupnagar, October 1: The SC/ST Act, 1995, regarding compensation to victims under Rule 17, has been framed to resolve the cases of victims on priority and to provide justice to the victims by disposing of the pending cases within the stipulated time.
These words were expressed by the Deputy Commissioner, Rupnagar while presiding over the meeting of the District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the cases of victims should be resolved on priority so that they can get relief and justice at the earliest. He directed the concerned officers to complete the legal proceedings by investigating the pending cases in a timely manner and ensure protection of the rights of the victims.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also stressed that all the members of the committee should discharge their responsibilities honestly and provide justice to the victims with sensitivity by reviewing the cases thoroughly in the meetings.
The convener of the meeting, District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer, Rupnagar Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu, gave a detailed account of the cases currently pending under the SC/ST Act to the House and some cases have already been paid.
He further informed that a budget has been sought from the head office to pay the cases, after receiving the budget, the remaining cases will also be paid after the completion of the proceedings. The officers and private members who attended the meeting also presented their suggestions and the Deputy Commissioner, Rupnagar has also ordered that the cases of the victims under the SC/ST Act scheme should be resolved on priority basis.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rupnagar Pooja Sial Grewal, Assistant Commissioner (G) Rupnagar Arvinderpal Singh Somal, SP Rupnagar Arvind Meena, District Attorney, Rupnagar Harkirat Singh, District Sports Officer Jagjivan Singh, Rupnagar, besides representatives of various departments were present.
