New feeders, substations and transformers will be installed to strengthen the power infrastructure of Ropar district
Rupnagar, October 8: Under the visionary thinking of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and the instructions of Power Minister Shri Sanjiv Arora, new power projects worth about Rs 4801 crore have been launched, taking a historic step to take the power sector of the state to a new level. Under this, new works worth Rs 165 crore were launched in Rupnagar district by the Constituency MLA Advocate Dinesh Chadha along with various other officers of the district by joining the video conferencing.
On this occasion, MLA Dinesh Chadha said that these projects will prove to be a milestone in freeing the people of Rupnagar district from power cuts, improving the voltage and increasing the reliability of supply. He said that new feeders are being constructed to deload 11 KV feeders, which will provide uninterrupted power supply to domestic and industrial consumers.
MLA Chadha said that new transformers are being installed in the district at a cost of Rs 5 crore, while the capacity of existing transformers is being increased at a cost of Rs 11 crore. Apart from this, new 66 KV substations are being constructed at a cost of Rs 39.20 crore, while the capacity of power transformers on existing grids is being increased under projects worth Rs 30 crore. To improve the quality of the distribution system, the capacity of 66 KV lines is being increased at a cost of Rs 10 crore so that the connectivity of various grids can be strengthened.
MLA Chadha said that all these projects have been started under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann with the aim of ensuring stable voltage and uninterrupted power supply to the consumers. After the completion of this project, there will be a major improvement in supply quality, reliability and consumer satisfaction in the areas falling under Zone South including Rupnagar. He said that for the first time in the history of Punjab, projects have been started for improving the power infrastructure on such a large scale in Ropar district, whereas earlier no government had paid so much attention to this issue. Chadha also said that the employees of the power department were already working diligently, but due to lack of necessary funds and infrastructure, they had to face many obstacles. Now the Aam Aadmi Party government has solved this problem.
He said that despite the huge increase in the demand for electricity and the number of consumers, the previous governments did not pay attention to it, but the Mann government has now brought this historic change. Finally, MLA Chadha said that in the coming time, the people of Rupnagar will get complete relief from power cuts, and this project will prove to be an important step towards taking the state towards “autonomous Punjab in the power sector”.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Engineer Mohit Sood, Exon Harvinder Singh Bhattal, Chairman Shiv Kumar Lalpura, SDO Malvinder Singh, JE Manjinder Singh, JE Puneet Chaudhary, employee leader Banwari Lal Mattu, Sandeep Joshi, Block President Sarpanch Parvinder Bala, SDO Ashok Chaudhary, Block President Atul Bansal, District Youth President Chetan Kalia, Lalit Dakala and other dignitaries were present.
