Deputy Commissioner, SSP, civil and police officers including paid tribute to the martyred police personnel
Rupnagar, October 21: The District Police celebrated Police Martyrdom Day dedicated to the police officers and employees who died in the line of duty.
On this occasion, remembering the martyrdom of the Punjab Police personnel at the Police Line, SSP S. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that the Punjab Police has a very valuable history and the Punjab Police has made great sacrifices in creating the unity of the country and a peaceful atmosphere in the state, which are a source of inspiration for the police department.
S. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that the police department stands with the families of the martyrs in every hour of joy and sorrow. He called upon the police officers and personnel to take guidance from the martyrs and perform their duty with even greater dedication towards public service.
Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varjit Walia said that the Police Martyrdom Memorial Day was celebrated to remember the martyrdom of the police personnel. He said that during the terrorism period, police officers/employees were martyred who sacrificed their lives to maintain law and order in the country. This day is celebrated every year to keep the memory of these martyrs fresh and to pay true tribute to them.
On this occasion, the names of 191 martyred jawans who were martyred across the country from 01 September 2024 to 31 August 2025 were read out by the Superintendent of Police (PBI) S. Jaspreet Singh and their martyrdom was remembered. After this, a condolence salute was given by the police contingent under the leadership of Deputy Captain of Police (Investigation) Mr. Jatinder Chauhan and a 2-minute silence was observed by all the attendees. After this, the Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar and SSP Rupnagar offered floral tributes to the martyrs. After this, the attendees offered floral tributes to the martyred police officers/employees at the martyred memorial.
34 families of martyred police personnel, Punjab Home Guards and SPOs living in Rupnagar district joined the event, who were honored by the Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar and SSP Rupnagar and the grievances of the attending family members were heard and a commitment was given to resolve them soon. On this occasion, a blood donation camp was also organized at Police Line Rupnagar with the support of Delhi Police Federation dedicated to the memory of the martyrs. In which the police administration, civil administration employees and the general public participated enthusiastically.
Finally, it was humbly appealed to the family members of the martyred police personnel that the entire District Police Rupnagar including the Senior Superintendent of Police is always committed to solving their problems. Whenever they face any problem, they can inform the Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar personally or over telephone at any time, which will be resolved on priority basis.
On this occasion, Civil Judge (Junior Division) Rupnagar Miss Ananya Rishi, President Punjab Police Pensioners Welfare Association Retired DSP Sohan Lal Sandhu, retired police officers, gazetted officers of Rupnagar Police, Chief Officers of Police Stations, family members of martyred police personnel/Punjab Home Guards/SPOs residing in the district and police personnel posted in various police stations/units were present at Police Line Rupnagar.
