Town Planning Department demolishes illegal constructions that have been going on for decades

Case of illegal activities in the forests of Bardar since 2004-2005

Rupnagar, October 28: The Town Planning Department has taken a big step towards demolishing illegal constructions that have been going on for decades and a case has been registered against Daya Krishna Gill, owner of Eko Dham Farm Houses.
It is worth mentioning that Daya Krishna Gill had purchased land in the village of Bardar in the said 2004-2005 and started illegal activities on which strict action has now been taken.
Sharing information about this, the Town Planning Department said that according to the field staff report, an illegal housing project was being developed in village Bardar Tehsil Rupnagar, under which a show cause notice and a demolition notice were issued for violating the provisions of the Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act 1995 and the PAPRA Act 1995, giving a time of 06 weeks.
He said that even after the notice was issued, no construction was removed on the spot and neither was the development work regarding the colony/housing project completed. Apart from this, instructions were issued continuously during the years 2023, 2024, 2025 that the illegal construction should be vacated within 15 days of the issuance of this notice and this office should be informed in any case. Whereas, in case of failure to do so, the regulatory wing took action under the provisions of the act.
He further informed that a comprehensive action was taken today against illegal construction and damage to forests and a case was registered against Dayal Krishna Gill, owner of Eko Dham Farm Houses.
The Town Planning Department further informed that this campaign will continue and illegal constructions will be demolished.
On this occasion, MLA Dinesh Chadha has appreciated this action taken by the administration on social media and has written that the process of stopping these activities that have been going on for the past decades was started from 2022-23, which the administration has completed in a commendable manner today.
