Health Department Active to Effectively Implement Government Health Schemes

Kiratpur Sahib October 13 : Under the leadership of S. Harjot Singh Bains, Cabinet Minister Punjab, the Health Department is committed to providing quality health facilities to every person. Therefore, while the government is implementing various schemes, senior officials of the Health Department are also periodically reviewing the health facilities being provided to patients at health centers to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach the beneficiaries.
As per the orders of Civil Surgeon Rupnagar Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh, a five-day training program on the topic of “Mental Health, Treatment and Care of the Elderly” will be organized by the team of the Primary Health Center of Kiratpur Sahib in the coming days for ASHA workers.
Senior Medical Officer Ind. Dr. Jangjit Singh said that the Punjab government is taking important steps from time to time, understanding the importance of mental health along with physical health. He said that the new mental health policy recently formulated by the government and the training being given to ASHA workers on mental health confirm that mental health is a very serious subject, which needs to be discussed openly.
Dr. Jangjit Singh said that a training program on mental health was organized for ASHA workers in the month of March and during three sessions of 5 days each, 120 ASHA workers of Block Kiratpur Sahib were trained by Master Trainer CHO Gagandeep Kaur. He said that this month too, a five-day training will be given to ASHA workers. The program will be organized and 40 ASHA workers of the block will be given information about the methods and techniques that will help in improving the mental health of the patients.
District ASHA Coordinator, Rupnagar Gurminder Singh said that this program is being organized with the aim of reducing the problems arising in old age by educating ASHA workers, especially the elderly, about their care, treatment and mental health. He said that this program will focus on increasing the understanding and competence of ASHA workers and ASHA facilitators so that they can understand the mental health problems of the people in villages and urban areas more thoroughly and provide the necessary help to the patients in a timely manner.
