Expensive Iron and EPO Injections Also Being Provided Free of Cost
Rupnagar, September 22: As part of the Punjab Government’s commitment to providing quality and free healthcare services to the people, significant relief is being provided to dialysis patients at District Civil Hospital Rupnagar under the Chief Minister Health Scheme. Under this scheme, needy patients are receiving dialysis completely free of cost, substantially reducing the financial burden on patients suffering from serious kidney diseases and their families.
Providing information in this regard, Civil Surgeon Rupnagar, Dr. Vivek Kataria, said that the scheme of the Punjab Government is proving to be a major support for needy patients. He said that necessary arrangements have been made at the Civil Hospital to ensure the smooth and effective functioning of dialysis services, and patients are being provided treatment without any interruption.
He said that six modern dialysis machines are currently operational at Civil Hospital Rupnagar, through which uninterrupted dialysis services are being provided to patients. He informed that 107 dialysis sessions were conducted in July and 104 dialysis sessions in August. Since dialysis is a sensitive medical procedure, special attention is given to the safety and health of patients. For this purpose, trained and experienced staff have been deployed at the hospital, who continuously monitor patients and take care of their needs.
Dr. Vivek Kataria further said that patients undergoing dialysis often develop the problem of anemia (low blood count). For its treatment, iron and erythropoietin (EPO) injections are required. He said that these injections are generally expensive and a patient may have to spend approximately Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 5,000 per month on them. However, under the facility being provided by the Punjab Government, these injections are also being provided to patients completely free of cost, providing them with significant financial relief.
He said that undergoing dialysis at private hospitals can be quite expensive, and it is difficult for economically weaker families to bear the cost of continuous treatment. The availability of free dialysis along with necessary medicines and injections at the government hospital is providing major support to such patients in continuing their treatment. Special attention is also being paid at the hospital to provide patients with a clean environment and quality healthcare services.
The Civil Surgeon Rupnagar appealed to the residents of the district to make maximum use of the various health schemes and government healthcare services being provided by the Punjab Government.
