Sri Anandpur Sahib 23 September ,With the aim of protecting the environment and preventing the harmful effects of stubble burning, Jaspreet Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sri Anandpur Sahib, directed the cluster and nodal officers posted in various departments to establish contact with farmers and completely control the cases of stubble burning.
Jaspreet Singh SDM Sri Anandpur Sahib said that due to the harmful effects of stubble burning incidents in the state, the Punjab government is taking it seriously, for which officers and employees of government departments have been posted as nodal officers in the villages of different blocks so that the incidents of stubble burning can be reduced to zero during the paddy harvesting season.
The SDM said that the machinery has been made available on subsidy by the Agriculture Department. He asked the nodal officers to go to the villages at the ground level and interact with the farmers and tell them about the proper use of the machinery made available by the Agriculture Department. He said that the machinery made available to the farmers by the Punjab government should be mapped and maximum use should be ensured and if machinery is required in any block, it should be provided on priority basis.

He said that along with disposing of the stubble in the field, it can also be used commercially by making it into bales. He said that burning the residue in the fields also causes economic losses to the farmers because in such a situation, challans are also issued, to avoid which awareness camps should be organized to make the farmers aware of proper management of the residue and farmers who have not burnt the residue for a long time should be specially invited to these camps.
He further said that the officers deployed in the villages for the management of stubble should send a daily report on their performance including meetings held with farmers and panchayats, efforts and special steps taken to prevent cases of stubble burning, which is being reviewed at the district level.
