Sri Anandpur Sahib 24 September: Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh Civil Surgeon Rupnagar as per the orders and instructions of District Vaccination Officer Dr. Navroop Kaur, Mamata Diwas was celebrated at PHC Kiratpur Sahib and various Ayushman Arogya Kendras under it with the aim of reducing the mortality rate of children and mothers during birth. During this, free health check-up and vaccination of children and pregnant women were done.
On this occasion, Senior Medical Officer In: Dr. Jangjit Singh said that Mamata Diwas is celebrated every Wednesday to bring the mortality rate of mothers and children during childbirth to zero. He said that on this Mamata Diwas celebrated during the month of Poshan, pregnant women and mothers of small children were made aware about the importance of taking a balanced diet rich in nutrients and breast milk for the child. He said that good health of a woman plays an important role in creating a strong family and a better society. Therefore, they should definitely include green vegetables, fruits and milk etc. in their diet.

On this occasion, SI Balwant Rai said that pregnant women who came for health check-up at Mini PHC Dher and Ayushman Arogya Kendra Agampur were also made aware about the “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar” campaign being run by the government and were also advised to eat good food for safe delivery and get vaccinated on time. On this occasion, apart from vaccination of children and pregnant women, iron, calcium and folic acid tablets were distributed free of cost to pregnant women.
On this occasion, CHO Rano, Gagandeep Kaur, LHV Kulwinder Kaur, Multipurpose Health Worker Naresh Kumar, Amit Sharma, ANM Rajni Devi, Jasvir Kaur, Prakash Kaur and ASHA workers were present.
