This memorial will be a humble tribute to the great Sikh warrior who brought the head of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
Sri Anandpur Sahib, October 5 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today dedicated the state-of-the-art memorial built at a cost of Rs 20 crore in the name of the great Sikh martyr Baba Jeevan Singh (Bhai Jaita Ji).
The Chief Minister bowed his head with deep reverence and respect before the great sacrifice of Bhai Jeevan Singh Ji, who attained martyrdom while fighting against one and a half lakh Mughal soldiers in the historic battle of Chamkaur Sahib. He said that five galleries dedicated to humanity are being inaugurated today in the memory of Baba Jeevan Singh Ji on the holy land of Sri Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of the Khalsa, which reflect the spirit of history through their design. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the design of this memorial has been prepared by the Architecture Wing of Sri Guru Nanak Dev University.
The Chief Minister said that this memorial has been completed in two phases as in the first phase the construction of the main building was completed and inaugurated in February 2024. In the second phase, he said that five galleries built inside both the wings of the building are being dedicated today and the total cost of this project is Rs 29 crore. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the museum will showcase the life and sacrifice of the great Sikh warrior Baba Jiwan Singh in a befitting manner.
The Chief Minister said that tourists will get information about the memorial through models and videos displayed at the entrance of the memorial. He said that the first gallery gives information about the Sikh Gurus and shows how the ancestors of Baba Jiwan Singh were spiritually connected with them from the beginning. He said that modern technology has been used here to bring history alive. He said that the second gallery depicts the marriage of Baba Jiwan Singh’s parents, his birth and the lineage of his family ancestors. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the third gallery depicts the atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits, their request to the ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, his departure for martyrdom from Sri Anandpur Sahib and the early life and teachings of Baba Jiwan Singh.
The Chief Minister further said that it also has an audio-visual presentation of the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Chandni Chowk and a scene of Bhai Jaita Ji bringing back the Guru Ji’s head. He said that the fourth gallery displays through paintings and multi-media the moment when Baba Jiwan Singh presented the sacred head of the ninth Guru Ji to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, after which he was given the title of Rangreta Guru Ka Beta. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Baba Jiwan Singh’s arduous journey to bring back Guru Ji’s head from Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Delhi to Kiratpur Sahib will also inspire the younger generations for selfless service and said that this gallery also depicts Baba Jiwan Singh’s marriage, the creation of Khalsa and his bravery in various battles.
The Chief Minister said that the fifth gallery depicts the historical places related to Baba Jiwan Singh at Sri Anandpur Sahib, the departure of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his family from Anandpur Sahib and concludes with an animated presentation of Baba Jiwan Singh’s life and martyrdom. He said that after the galleries there is a gift shop and an exhibition area, which has places related to Punjab tourism. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is committed to preserving the glorious heritage of the state for the coming generations and no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause.
