Rupnagar Police arrests two drug addicts under “War on Drugs” campaign

Giving information through a press note, Mr. Gulneet Singh Khurana, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar informed that under the guidelines of Mr. Gaurav Yadav IPS Director General of Police Punjab and under the leadership of Mr. Harcharan Singh Bhullar IPS Deputy Inspector General of Police Rupnagar Range, many strict actions are being taken by the District Rupnagar Police under the campaign “War on Drugs” being run against drug smugglers and anti-social elements.
Under this campaign, Rupnagar Police arrested 2 drug addicts under the NDPS Act. Police station Sadar Rupnagar arrested Gagandeep Singh resident of Luhara Gali Ghaneli while Police station Sadar Morinda arrested Manjit Singh resident of Kamal Palace Sri Chamkaur Sahib. A case has been registered against both of them under the NDPS Act and the action has been taken further.

In addition, blockades were made at various places across the district to maintain law and order and crack down on bad elements. During this, suspicious persons and vehicles were checked.
Gazetted officers and chief officers of the district police held meetings in various villages to make people aware about the ill effects of drugs. Along with this, information was also given about the harmful effects of stubble burning and farmers were motivated to adopt alternative methods of stubble management.
He said that the district police is committed to protecting the lives and property of the common people and this campaign against anti-social elements will continue with more vigour in the future as well.
