Rupnagar, May 20: Under the directions of Civil Surgeon Rupnagar Dr. Raman Gupta, a special check-up camp and awareness program was organized at Civil Hospital Rupnagar on World Hypertension Day.
On this occasion, 110 patients were checked by Medical Specialist Dr. Puneet Saini. Staff Nurse Harpreet Kaur checked the BP and sugar of the patients in the camp.
Meanwhile, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Anjali Chaudhary and DDHO Dr. Rajneet Bains inspected the camp.
Dr. Anjali Chaudhary informed that the main objective of this camp is to make people aware about hypertension. She said that hypertension (high blood pressure) can cause serious health problems like stroke, heart attack, kidney diseases and dementia.
He said that high blood pressure is caused due to our wrong lifestyles, stress and unhealthy habits. Therefore, people especially above 30 years of age should get their blood pressure checked regularly. He also informed that the screening and treatment of hypertension is available free of cost in all government health institutions.
