Rupnagar, October 18: At Government College Ropar, under the patronage of Principal Jatinder Singh Gill, a lamp decorating, poster making and rangoli competition was organized on the theme of ‘Sustainable Earth-Green Diwali’ in collaboration with Geography Association, Geography Department, Higher Education Institute Society and Red Ribbon Club. The aim of this was to motivate the students to celebrate pollution-free Diwali.
Principal Jatinder Singh Gill appealed to the students to celebrate a cracker-free Diwali and extended Diwali greetings. Prof. Shaminder Kaur of the Geography Department welcomed the guests and appealed to the students to celebrate a pollution-free Diwali.
Assistant Director, Youth Services Captain Mantej Singh Cheema and Patron-Red Cross Society Mrs. Kiranpreet Gill participated in this program with great enthusiasm.
Students participated in various competitions organized on this occasion in large numbers. In poster making, Rajwinder Singh won first, Simran won second, Banti won third, in lamp decoration competition, Karamjit Singh won first, Khushpreet Kaur won second, Pawanpreet Kaur won third, in Rangoli, Arsh/Seema won first, Janvi/Jashanpreet Kaur/Mehak Handa won second and Kajal/Nitika won third place. These competitions were led by Dr. Anu Bhadu, Prof. Jupinder Kaur, Prof. Dimple Dhir, Prof. Manpreet Kaur, Prof. Sandeep Kaur, Prof. Jagjit Singh and Dr. Kirti Bhagirath and the role of judging was played by Prof. Meena Kumari, Prof. Natasha Kalra and Prof. Sangeeta Madan. Dr. Anu Sharma gave away cash prizes to the winning students. Staff members were also present on the occasion.
