Congress Sarpanch Along with Dozens of Families Join Aam Aadmi Party
Sri Anandpur Sahib, September 20, 2026: Influenced by the people-oriented policies of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the development works being carried out across the state and in Sri Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency, the village Sarpanch associated with the Congress party along with dozens of families from village Nanowal joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today.
Cabinet Minister and Sri Anandpur Sahib MLA Harjot Singh Bains welcomed the newly joined leaders and workers into the party and encouraged them to work with greater dedication to strengthen the party’s policies and public welfare initiatives. In recent times, several leaders and workers associated with different political parties have joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the constituency.
Among those who joined the party were Sarpanch Asha Rani, Panch Darshan Kaur, Panch Sanju, Panch Rakesh Kumar, Bhupinder Singh Fauji, Sucha Singh, Jasvir Singh, Deepak Kumar (Club President), Hem Raj, Raj Kumar, Tejpal, Hardeep Singh, Pyare Lal, Mukesh Kumar, Rattan Lal, Inderpal, Tarsem Singh (former Sarpanch), Kewal Chand, Bal Kishan, Dhani Ram, Ram Nath, Anant Ram Deepak, Jassu, Vicky, Joginder Singh, Anil Kumar Soni, Ram Krishan, Rajinder Pal, Kamal Dev, Khushwant, Gurnaib Singh, Sidhu Ram, Ram Das, Dharminder Singh, Gurdial Chand, Karn Singh, Santosh Kumari (Mahila Morcha President), Parmeshwari Devi, Anjana Kumari, Bholi Devi, Sheila Devi, Gursaran Kaur, Urmila Devi, Varsha Devi, Richa Sharma, Bhago Devi, Suman Devi, Pramila Devi, Rajni, Gurmeet Kaur, Rampal Bhagi and Dr. Didar.
The newly joined members said that the development and public welfare works carried out by the Mann government in Punjab and the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency over the past period had influenced their decision to join the party. They said efforts were being made to maintain direct contact with people in the constituency, listen to their problems and resolve them at the earliest possible opportunity. They also referred to the public meeting held recently at village Jindwari, where a large number of people presented their problems and demands before the government.
The new party members said that under the leadership of Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, various development works related to roads, bridges and other basic infrastructure were being carried out in the villages of the constituency. They said several projects were underway in the Changer area, including arrangements for irrigation water and construction of new bridges and culverts. They also said that the process of four-laning the Nangal-Kiratpur Sahib road had progressed, which is expected to strengthen transportation and connectivity in the area.
Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the primary objective of the Aam Aadmi Party government was to ensure that government schemes and facilities reached people without discrimination. He said that AAP volunteers and party workers were reaching out to people in the constituency to understand their needs and problems.
Bains said that instead of a politics of revenge, priority should be given to social harmony, mutual respect and development. He said that the pace of development in the constituency would be accelerated by taking people from every village and every section of society along.
The newly inducted members said they would actively work to take the policies of the Aam Aadmi Party to every household and serve the people. They said they would play their role in communicating the government’s development and public welfare initiatives to the people.
On the occasion, Harjot Singh Bains welcomed all the new members and said that every new associate would be given due respect and recognition in the party. He said that everyone would work together for the progress and development of the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency.
