Lok Sabha member reviews central schemes during ‘Disha’ meeting
Rupnagar, October 14: Ensure that the benefits of government schemes designed for the needy citizens reach the grassroots and no eligible beneficiary should be deprived of their benefits.
This instruction was given by MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency Malvinder Singh Kang to the officials during the meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) at the District Administrative Complex Rupnagar today.
During this meeting held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Shri Varjit Walia and other leaders, while closely reviewing the central schemes running in the district, Malvinder Singh Kang said that the ongoing development works should be completed within the stipulated time and their utilization certificates should also be issued. He said that the various schemes of the government should be implemented in a smooth and transparent manner so that all the eligible beneficiaries related to these schemes can be benefited.
Malvinder Singh Kang said that the Punjab government is paying special attention to the education and health sector, under which the infrastructure of government schools is being strengthened and apart from this, many development works are being carried out in the villages and playgrounds and sports grounds are being provided in the villages to connect the youth with sports and ground. Along with this, treatment, tests and medicines are being provided completely free of cost to the needy patients in government hospitals.
He asked the health department to submit a report on vacant posts, basic necessities and machinery etc. in government hospitals of all the districts, so that better health facilities can be provided to the district residents.
He said that model villages should be built in each block and special care should be taken to clean the ponds of the villages, maximum number of saplings should be planted and special care should be taken to maintain cleanliness.
He further said that maximum awareness should be created to provide grants received by the government for various welfare schemes to the poor and needy people. By coordinating with the MC and Sarpanchs at every village and city level, the benefits of government schemes can be given to the eligible beneficiaries.
The members of the Lok Sabha received detailed information regarding the progress of development works underway in the district under MGNREGA, National Health Mission, National Rural Drinking Water Programme, Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, National Social Assistance Programme, C-PYTE, Smart Ration Card Scheme, National Food Security Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen, Jal Jeevan Mission, PMKSY, Mid-Day Meal Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, Samgar Shiksha Abhiyan, MP LAID Scheme, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana etc.
Malvinder Singh Kang told the officials that many people still need to be provided the benefits of these schemes and in the coming time, it should be ensured that more eligible beneficiaries get the benefits of these development schemes.
Deputy Commissioner Shri Varjit Walia assured the Lok Sabha member that the development works started under the schemes in the district will be completed within the stipulated time and it will be ensured that the benefits of government schemes are delivered at the ground level.
He said that full seriousness is being shown for the smooth and transparent implementation of central schemes in the district and continuous reviews are also being done with the departments related to these schemes. He also directed the departments to complete the development works started within the stipulated time.
