Meeting to review health works with Mass Media Wing and Block Extension Education

Rupnagar, November 04: An important meeting of Mass Media Wing and all Block Extension Educators of the district was organized today at the Civil Surgeon Office Rupnagar under the chairmanship of Civil Surgeon Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh.
The main purpose of this meeting was to further strengthen and activate the potential of the current activities of various national programs being run by the Health Department, their effectiveness and the action plan for the coming months.
Addressing the meeting, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh said that the role of the media wing is very important in the promotion of health services at the block level. He said that only when people are aware of health-related plans and new policies, the real benefit of health facilities will reach the common people. Therefore, the media wing should understand its responsibilities and emphasize on making the communication process effective.
During the meeting, Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh said that BEE is an important link in reaching out to the masses various health programs like maternal and child health, vaccination, malaria, dengue, TB eradication, adolescent health, non-communicable diseases, nutrition campaign and Ayushman Bharat. He asked all the officers to conduct health awareness campaigns among the people up to the booth level by making comprehensive use of IEC materials.
He also specifically said that vector control activities should be carried out at the third speed to prevent seasonal diseases like dengue, chikungunya etc. It is necessary to give complete information to the people about not allowing water to stagnate in their homes and surroundings and maintaining a clean environment.

The Civil Surgeon directed the officers present in the meeting to conduct health awareness classes in as many schools, panchayat houses, religious places and general public places in the district. Regular reporting and progress review for monitoring the programs should be done and shortcomings should be addressed immediately.
The meeting also emphasized on the use of new technologies and digital platforms related to health services. Especially, information was given about the importance of correct entry and reporting of online portals for immunization and mother and child health management.
In this meeting, BEEs from each block shared the progress of their area and also discussed the challenges being faced. The Civil Surgeon assured that whatever problems are being faced, they will be resolved immediately so that the people can get better health services.
Dr. Sukhwinderjit Singh motivated all the BEEs to do their work with dedication and commitment. He said that every scheme and campaign of the Health Department will be successful when there is full participation of the entire staff and full support of the public.
On this occasion, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Bobby Gulati, District Group Education and Information Officer Madam Gurmeet Kaur, Deputy Mass Media Officers Ritu and Ravinder Singh, District BCC Coordinator Sukhjit Kamboj and BEEs of all blocks were present.
