Rupnagar, October 14: A special awareness seminar was organized during the morning assembly at Government High School Kotla Nihang with the aim of making the students aware about the ill effects of drugs and district legal services. On this occasion, Counselor of the Drug De-Addiction Program Prabhjot Kaur informed the students about the campaign ‘War on Drugs’ being run by the Punjab Government and made them aware of the ill effects of drugs on social, physical and mental health.

He motivated the students to stay away from drugs, adopt a healthy lifestyle and play their important role in creating a drug-free society. He said that drug addiction affects the individual as well as his family and the entire society. Therefore, there is a need to make joint efforts to protect the youth from drugs and spread awareness in the society.

During the seminar, Prabhjot Kaur also gave detailed information about the free legal services provided by the District Legal Services Authority. She said that free legal aid is provided to poor and needy families, especially women and other eligible categories as per the eligibility criteria. Along with this, she gave information about the role of free legal aid clinics and motivated them to take advantage of these services when needed.

On this occasion, the guidance and counseling teacher of the school S. Kulwant Singh and the school head Mrs. Sonia also informed the students about the ill effects of drugs and the importance of legal help. They described such awareness seminars as important for the all-round development of the students and instilling a sense of social responsibility. The school head Mrs. Sonia and S. Kulwant Singh thanked the counselor Prabhjot Kaur for providing important information and awareness to the students.
