Rupnagar, September 29: Kharif season 2025-26 has started in Punjab from September 16. To review the arrangements made for purchasing and maintaining the paddy crop brought by farmers to the markets during the season, Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varjit Walia made a surprise visit to Rupnagar Mandi today and reviewed the procurement process of the paddy crop. On this occasion, the SSP of the district Mr. Gulneet Khurana was also present.
On this occasion, he appealed to the farmers to bring only dry paddy to the market. At this time, the moisture content of the paddy was checked by him, which was found to be correct. He said that keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers, the Punjab government and the district administration should pay special attention to drinking water, seating arrangements, weighing arrangements and payment process in the mandis. He clarified that no negligence of any kind will be tolerated in the procurement process.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner met the farmers who came to the mandi and got information about their suggestions and problems. He instructed the officials and representatives of the procurement agencies standing in the mandi that the farmers should not face any kind of hassle. All the necessary arrangements should be made smoothly during the procurement of the paddy crop and the interests of the farmers should be fully protected.
The Deputy Commissioner said that on this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also ordered the officials that the crop should be lifted on time so that the farmers do not face any obstacle in selling their crop and get the full value of their hard work on time.
