Rupnagar, October 01 – A press note issued by Mr. Gulneet Singh Khurana, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar informed that under the guidelines of Mr. Gaurav Yadav, IPS, Director General of Police Punjab and under the leadership of Mr. Harcharan Singh Bhullar, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police Rupnagar Range, a major action was taken by Rupnagar Police under the campaign “War against Drugs” against drug smugglers and anti-social elements.
He informed that during checking and blockade at different places, the District Police arrested one person and recovered more than 12 grams of narcotic powder from him. Apart from this, three drug addicts were also arrested and action was taken against them under the NDPS Act. 15 grams of intoxicating powder was recovered from a woman named in case number 75 registered on 26.09.2025 by Sadar Police Station Morinda. Apart from this, 18000 ML of liquor was recovered by City Police Station Morinda and a case was registered under the Excise Act.

Giving further information, the Senior Superintendent of Police said that Harnek Singh, resident of Behrampur Bet, was arrested by Police Station Sri Chamkaur Sahib along with intoxicating powder. Similarly, drug addicts Ankit Kumar, resident of Nangal, Jaswinder Singh, resident of near Kali Mata Mandir Morinda and Samuel alias Sam, resident of Badi Haveli Rupnagar were also arrested by different police stations and cases have been registered against them under the NDPS Act. Police Station Sadar Morinda also seized 15 grams of narcotic powder from Gurpreet Kaur alias Riya Sandhu alias Gopa Hall, resident of Maqboolpura, Sri Amritsar Sahib.

In addition, in view of the festivals, special blockades were made in the district to maintain law and order and to crack down on bad elements, during which suspicious persons and vehicles were checked in detail.
