Rupnagar, October 10: In order to implement the “War Against Drugs” campaign being run by the Punjab Government at the ground level, the District Rupnagar Police is continuously taking action against drug dealers.
Giving information in this regard, Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar S. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that under the “War Against Drugs” campaign being run by the Rupnagar Police against drug smugglers and anti-social elements, the District Police arrested 2 persons in various cases of the NDPS Act and seized more than 16 grams of narcotic powder. Apart from this, the District Police conducted checking by blocking various places in the district to maintain law and order and tighten the noose on the bad elements.
He further informed that in continuation of the “War Against Drugs” campaign, the district police conducted check posts and patrols at various places to check drug smugglers and bad elements, during which the Sadar Rupnagar police station arrested Kailash Kumar Baila, resident of Jhuggiya Thermal Plant, Ghanauli, and recovered more than 5 grams of narcotic powder from him, and the Nangal police station arrested Amarjit Sharma, resident of Mohalla Purana Gurudwara, Nangal, and recovered 11 grams of narcotic powder from him, and cases were registered against him under the NDPS Act.
S. Gulneet Singh Khurana further informed that special check posts were conducted at various places to maintain law and order in the district and to crack down on bad elements. During which suspicious persons and vehicles were checked.
SSP Rupnagar appealed to the public to fully cooperate with the police to eliminate the menace of drugs and if any person is involved in drug trafficking/smuggling in their area, then their information should be shared on Safe Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline number 97791-00200 (WhatsApp chatbot) or the district police number. The name and address of the informant will be kept confidential.
