Two-Day Hola Mohalla Virasati Games to be Held on March 1–2 at Charan Ganga Stadium – Chandarjyoti Singh

Sri Anandpur Sahib, February 20: The District Administration Rupnagar is organizing two-day Virasati (heritage) sports on March 1 and 2 at the historic Charan Ganga Stadium in Sri Anandpur Sahib. The competitions will be held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. There is tremendous enthusiasm among young boys and girls to participate in these traditional games.

This information was shared by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Chandarjyoti Singh after reviewing the arrangements during a special meeting held at the stadium.

He stated that competitions reflecting Punjab’s rich heritage and cultural pride will be organized over the two days. During Hola Mohalla celebrations, Dhadi and Kavishri performances symbolizing the glorious history of the Khalsa will captivate the audience. A special Dastar Bandi (turban tying) competition for youth has also been planned.

The ADC informed that traditional events such as Tent Pegging (Killa Puttna), Gatka, and Archery will be conducted. Winners will be specially honored and awarded certificates. He further added that proper arrangements have been made for boarding and lodging of the participating players.

Chief Minister’s Field Officer Abhimanyu Malik said that more than 200 young boys and girls have shown keen interest in participating in the Hola Mohalla Virasati Games.

SDM Morinda Gurdev Singh Dhamm informed that, with the support of the International Sikh Shastar Vidiya Council, around a dozen Gatka teams will showcase their martial art skills during the competitions. Individual Gatka Soti-Farri contests will also be organized. Tent Pegging events will be a major attraction during the inauguration ceremony. Cultural performances reflecting Punjab’s rich traditions and heritage will also be presented.

Among others present at the meeting were XEN Panchayati Raj Avtar Singh, District Sports Officer Vandana Chauhan, Executive Engineer Water Supply Department Harjitpal Singh, DSP Kulbhushan Sharma, District Development and Panchayat Officer Baljinder Singh Grewal, BDPO Sri Anandpur Sahib Ishan Chaudhary, along with officials from various departments.
