Rupnagar, 01 October 2025 – Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar organized a district level awareness camp for paddy residue management at village Bhanupali under the leadership of Director Extension Education, PAU and ICAR Attari, Zone-1, Ludhiana. More than 100 farmers, farmer women and rural youth from village Bhanupali and nearby villages Nangli, Jindwari, Dher and Jandla participated in this camp.
On this occasion, Dr. Satbir Singh, Associate Director (Training), KVK Ropar, informed the participants about new techniques for residue management and discussed in detail the possibilities of surface seeding technique for wheat. He said that proper management of waste is essential for sustainable agriculture as it improves soil health, recycles nutrients, increases fertility and is an important source of organic matter. Apart from this, this management protects against air pollution and prevents soil nutrients from being destroyed.
On this occasion, Dr. Aparna, Professor (Animal Production), Dr. Ankurdeep Preeti, Assistant Professor (Agroforestry), and Dr. Urvi Sharma, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) gave detailed information about the utility of straw in various agricultural allied occupations.
On this occasion, agricultural literature, vegetable home garden kits and scrap metal for animals were also distributed to the farmers. At the end of the event, all the participants took a pledge not to burn crop residues and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar.
