Rupnagar, October 09: Keeping in mind the festival season, under the directions of Commissioner Food and Drug Administration Punjab S. Dilraj Singh and Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Mr. Varjit Walia, the Food Safety Ropar team has been instructed to check by forming teams under the leadership of SDMs of various tehsils of the district.
Following these instructions, as per the orders of Civil Surgeon Rupnagar S. Sukhwinderjit Singh, the food safety officers checked various sweet shops in their respective areas. These teams are being led by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Rupnagar S. Manjinder Singh Dhillon.
During this checking, 6 samples were collected from various shops by FSO Simranjit Singh and 7 samples were taken by Dineshjot Singh and sent to the Kharar lab. These samples include various sweets, khoya and fenya used in fasting etc. In some shops, inedible sweets were destroyed by the team on the spot.
On this occasion, Manjinder Singh Dhillon instructed all the shopkeepers of the district to maintain cleanliness and use quality goods. He said that the workers working in the shops should also work wearing caps and aprons etc. He said that all the halwai shops and confectionery shops should be vigilant especially during these festive seasons and if anyone is found violating the Food Safety Act, strict action will be taken against him as per the act.
