District Controller visits Rupnagar Mandi

Rupnagar, September 22: Kharif season 2025-26 has started in Punjab state from September 16. The district administration has made adequate arrangements for purchasing and storing the paddy crop brought by farmers to the mandis during the season.
Today, District Controller, Food Supplies Dr. Kimmy Vineet Kaur Sethi made a surprise visit to Rupnagar Grain Market, where she checked the moisture content of the paddy, which was found to be 13 percent. Secretary Market Committee was also present with her. Giving information about this, the District Controller said that so far only 26 MT. Paddy has arrived in the district.
He said that keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers, the Punjab government has started the Kharif season 2025-26 in the state of Punjab from 16 September 2025, which will be completed by 30 November 2025, which will give more time to the farmers to sell the paddy crop in the markets at the government rate.

 

He said that this year the government will be purchasing paddy through the grain procurement portal through face authentication. Therefore, he appealed to the farmers to get registered on the grain procurement portal or get two authorized representatives registered on the grain procurement portal by the farmer. He said that after the timely procurement of the farmers’ crop, the payment to the farmers will be made within a period of 48 hours.
The District Controller said that the administration will lift wheat only with those trucks, in which the VTS (Vehicle Tracking System) system is activated so that the movement of the vehicle can be tracked through the GPS system.
He appealed to the farmer brothers that only paddy with a moisture content of up to 17 percent as per the government specifications should be brought to the market after drying the crop so that the auction of the crop can be held on time and the farmers can get the price of their crop without any delay.
