Rupnagar, November 04: Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rupnagar Mrs. Pooja Sial Grewal celebrated the birthday of a child who lost both his parents during the Corona period yesterday and met him and information was taken about the education, health and daily activities of that child.
Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the Ministry of Women and Child Development has covered the children who lost their parents during the Corona period under the Care Scheme of Children with the aim of boosting the morale of the children and providing care and security in different areas such as economic health, education etc. for collective development.
Mrs. Pooja Sial Grewal said that there is only one child registered under this scheme in district Rupnagar, on whose birthday this meeting is held and the birthday of that child is celebrated so that this day can be made memorable for that child.
He said that the District Administration of Rupnagar assured of providing financial assistance to this child as well as all kinds of assistance. Apart from this, the child was also given birthday gifts.
District Child Protection Officer Rupnagar Mrs. Rajinder Kaur gave information in this regard and said that under this scheme, various benefits are being provided by the Ministry under different schemes to make the children self-reliant, such as a benefit of Rs. 10 lakh after completing the age of 18. Apart from this, benefits like sponsorship scheme of Rs. 4000 per month for the child’s education and household needs, free education, ex-gratia grant, scholarship of Rs. 20000 and free coaching for the preparation of any competitive paper, pension of Rs. 1500 per month etc. are being given.
Assistant Commissioner (G) S. Arvinderpal Singh Somal, all the staff of the District Child Protection Office and other administrative officers were present on this occasion.
