A 26-year-old Indian tourist died after suddenly collapsing at a Phuket cafe on Kamala beach. Mysteriously, three others also fainted one by one at the same cafe ‘for no obvious’ reason. The incident took place on May 9 and now the Indian embassy has confirmed the death. “The Embassy officials are in contact with the family of the deceased to extend all support in this hour of grief. We remain in contact with the relevant Thai authorities who are looking into the incident, and also following the health situation of the others,” the embassy said.According to the Bangkok Post, five Indians identified as Kushagra Agarwal, Rahul Agrawal, another person with the same name Rahul Agarwal, Aman Agarwal and Aryan Verma arrived at the cafe together at around 11 pm. About 1.54am, four members of the group reportedly lost consciousness one by one for no obvious reason. Café staff immediately called emergency services and the men were rushed to the hospital. Aryan Verma did not display any symptoms.Patong Hospital later reported that two of the men were in a coma and were transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further treatment. They were Kushagra Agarwal and one of the two men named Rahul Agrawal. Around 2pm on Saturday police were informed that Kushagra Agarwal had died. The remaining three patients were reported to be in stable condition.Police visited both hospitals and found all four men unconscious and unable to provide statements.Thaiger reported that some locals speculated that illegal substances or illicit alcohol may have been involved, but investigators have not released any findings or official conclusions.
