Rupnagar, 18 September 2026: The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, under the leadership of Chief Agriculture Officer Rupnagar S. Nirmal Singh, provided special training on the use of Saathi Portal to all the seed sellers of the district in the five blocks of district Rupnagar from 16 to 18 September 2026. The main objective of this training was to bring transparency in the seed sale process, ensure compliance with the rules and ensure availability of quality seeds to the farmers.
On this occasion, Agricultural Development Officer (Seed) Mr. Kunal Farwan gave detailed information about the use of Saathi portal to the seed sellers. He gave practical information about selling seeds through the portal, entering the required information while selling seeds to farmers, recording the records related to the sale on the portal and solving the problems faced while using the portal.
Chief Agriculture Officer S. Nirmal Singh instructed all seed vendors to sell seeds, fertilizers and pesticides in full compliance with the instructions issued by the government and the relevant laws. He strictly instructed not to sell fertilizers in violation of tagging or prescribed procedures and not to sell unauthorized seeds, fertilizers or pesticides.
He clarified that if any dealer is found violating the rules and laws set by the government, then appropriate legal action will be taken against him as per the rules.
During the training, the departmental officers directly interacted with the seed sellers, listened to their problems and provided necessary information regarding the solution of various issues related to the sale of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides including the Saathi portal. During this, the seed sellers were also motivated to prioritize the interests of the farmers by following the government rules.
During this training, Agricultural Development Officer (Khad) S. Lovepreet Singh and Agricultural Development Officer (TA) S. Navdeep Singh were also present. The Block Incharges and departmental staff of the concerned blocks also participated in the training program.
