Special training on Basic Life Support and Incident Response System provided on the fourth day of Youth Disaster Friend Training

Roopnagar, June 27: The fourth day of the seven-day Disaster Management Training Camp being conducted by Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Chandigarh under the Yuva Aapda Mitra Yojana successfully concluded. During this, 100 NCC cadets were given special training on basic life-saving techniques and important systems related to disaster management.

The day began with a recap of the sessions conducted by Mr. Johnson in the previous days. He shared important information related to Search and Rescue, Flood Management and Heat Wave Management with the cadets.

This was followed by a key technical session on Basic Life Support (BLS) conducted by Course Coordinator Mr. Ankur, Ms. Itisha Parmar and other members of the Disaster Management Team of MGSIPA. The session covered practical information related to CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), Fresh Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) management, care of open and closed wounds, techniques to stop bleeding and basic first aid.

The trainers also gave practical demonstrations of all the subjects, highlighting the importance of prompt and proper response in emergency situations. The highlight of the day was that all 100 NCC cadets were given hands-on training. The cadets practiced techniques like administering CPR, assessing the injured, stopping bleeding and caring for wounds.

This was followed by a mock drill based on Incident Response System (IRS) conducted by Shri Yogesh and other members of the Disaster Management Team. Through this exercise, the cadets were given practical training on how to effectively assist the district administration during disasters and other emergency situations.

The importance of coordination, effective communication, teamwork and sound management of resources were highlighted during the mock drill. The cadets were also given practical experience of the actual disaster response system by being assigned various responsibilities.

Praising the enthusiasm, discipline and active participation of the NCC cadets, the organizers said that the main objective of the Yuva Aapda Mitra scheme is to prepare trained youth volunteers who can effectively assist the society and government agencies during disasters, emergency situations and humanitarian crises.
