Rupnagar, February 03: As per the orders of the government, a seven-day Civil Defense Capacity Building Training Camp was successfully organized at Government College Ropar under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Shri Aditya Dachalwal, under the leadership of Civil Defense Team Rupnagar, in collaboration with the NSS, Red Ribbon Club and NCC Unit of the college.
Principal Government College Ropar cum Deputy Director Higher Education Department S. Jatinder Singh Gill attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. He highly appreciated this unique initiative of the government, blessed the volunteers and specially congratulated the Civil Defense Team Rupnagar for the successful organization of this training.
Training Incharge S. Sudarshan Singh said that the volunteers were given important civil defense training like CPR, first aid, fire fighting, accident handling, relief and rescue, disaster management and safe evacuation during emergencies.
He said that during this, the NDRF team, IDDP team and Civil Hospital team also conducted special sessions. The volunteers were not only given theoretical but also special practical training and exercises were conducted in the field.
Shri Narayan Sharma from Civil Defense Rupnagar team said that a total of 360 volunteers participated in this camp, out of which 250 were from Government College Ropar, 40 from Shivalik College Nangal and 70 from various civil departments of Rupnagar district. All the volunteers were distributed safety kit, medical kit, booklet, tracksuit, shoes, diary, pen, paper board, T-shirt and bag. Shri Narayan Sharma expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the complete cooperation received from the college administration and all the staff for making this training a success.
