SDM holds meeting with nodal officers regarding non-burning of stubble

Sri Chamkaur Sahib, September 25: Under the chairmanship of SDM Amrik Singh Sidhu, PCS, a meeting was held with the nodal officers appointed by the Deputy Commissioner, Rupnagar at the district level and cluster wise to control stubble burning and maintain the environment during the paddy season.
During the meeting, strict instructions were issued to the officers present that their duties have been assigned in the field at the village level. Therefore, by visiting their respective villages, they should coordinate with the Sarpanch/Panch and other interested farmers and motivate them to not burn stubble and farmers should be informed about the complete ban on harvesting paddy with combine from 06 pm to 10 am.

He said that paddy should be harvested on time and paddy with high moisture content should not be brought to the market. Due to which the farmers do not have to face any problem. Apart from this, meetings are also being held with the owners of machinery like super seeder, baler etc. provided by the Agriculture Department on the subsidy so that timely management of stubble can be done.
The Agriculture Department officials were instructed to share the number of mapped balers with the farmers of the concerned villages so that they can easily vacate their fields as soon as possible and do not resort to setting fire. Officers/employees of various departments were present on this occasion.
