Rupnagar Police takes major action against drug trafficking, 2 arrested
Rupnagar, September 30: Giving information through a press note, Mr. Gulneet Singh Khurana, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Rupnagar said that under the guidelines of Mr. Gaurav Yadav, IPS, Director General of Police Punjab and under the leadership of Mr. Harcharan Singh Bhullar, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rupnagar, several steps have been taken by Rupnagar Police under the campaign “War on Drugs” against drug trafficking and anti-social elements.
The Senior Superintendent of Police said that the District Police, while taking action in various cases of NDPS Act, arrested Hazrat Khan alias Anju, son of Makhan Khan of village Behrampur and Khushdil Singh, son of Jaswinder Singh of village Behrampur. A total of 1 kg of opium was recovered from them. Similarly, Singh Bhagwantpur police station also arrested Gurjant Singh alias Gola, son of Nirmal Singh of village Akalgarh alias Burjwala and registered cases against him under the NDPS Act.
He said that keeping in mind the festive occasion, the district police conducted special blockades and checks at various places to maintain law and order and crack down on bad elements. During this, suspicious persons and vehicles were also checked.
He further said that if anyone has information about drug smuggling or trafficking in their area, they can share it on Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline number 97791-00200 (WhatsApp chatbot) or the numbers of the district police. The name and address of the informant will be kept completely confidential.
