District Police arrested 07 persons in various cases registered under NDPS Act

Rupnagar, November 12: Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar S. Gulneet Singh Khurana while giving information said that as per the directions of Director General of Police Punjab Mr. Gaurav Yadav and under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General of Police Rupnagar Range Rupnagar S. Nanak Singh, the Rupnagar Police is running a campaign against drug smugglers and anti-social elements under the “War against Drugs” campaign, the District Police arrested 5 persons in cases registered under NDPS Act and recovered 76 grams of narcotic powder/substance from them.

SSP S. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that apart from this, 2 persons addicted to drug abuse were also arrested under NDPS Act. A case was registered under the Act and arrested.
He further informed that in continuation of the “War Against Drugs” campaign, the District Police checked drug smugglers and evil elements through roadblocks and patrols at various places, during which Kiratpur Sahib police station arrested drug addict Gurpreet Singh, resident of New Gurnam Nagar, Sultan Wind Road, Amritsar, and Sri Anandpur Sahib police station arrested drug addict Rishabh alias Ritak, resident of village Ganguwal.
S. Gulneet Singh Khurana said that Jaspreet Singh alias Jass Hall, resident of P.G. Near Civil Hospital Kharar, Police Station City, Kharar District Mohali, Bhupinder Singh, resident of village Chapparchiri Khurd, District Mohali, Kulvir Singh alias Chinu, resident of village Nyan Shehar Badala, Police Station Sadar, Kharar District Mohali and Sumit Kumar, resident of village Gopalpur, Police Station Kharkonda, District Sonipat (Haryana) were arrested and more than 71 grams of narcotic powder/substance were recovered from them and Police Station Singh Bhagwantpur arrested Lakhwinder Singh alias Binder, resident of village Rajemajra and 5 grams of narcotic powder was recovered from him and cases were registered against them under NDPS Act, in which further action is being taken.

The Senior Superintendent of Police said that in addition to this, in order to maintain law and order in the district and to tighten the noose on the bad elements, special blockades were made at railway stations, important public places and suspicious vehicles were checked and a total of 82 challans were issued against those violating traffic rules.
SSP Rupnagar appealed to the public that if any person is involved in drug trafficking/smuggling in their area, then his information should be shared on Safe Punjab Anti-Drug Helpline number 97791-00200 (WhatsApp chatbot) or the district police number. The name and address of the informant will be kept confidential.
