Rupnagar, November 11: On the directions of District and Sessions Judge along with Chairperson District Legal Services Authority Rupnagar Mrs. Manjot Kaur, a seminar on POCSO Act was organized by CJM cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority Rupnagar Mrs. Amandeep Kaur at Government Middle School Musapur.
Speaking on the occasion, CJM Amandeep Kaur said that the main objective of this seminar was to create awareness to prevent crimes against children. She said that along with education, children must also be aware of their rights and crimes against children.
He said that when a case is registered under POCSO, the identity of any victim is kept confidential and also informed the children that the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 (POCSO) has been enacted to protect against physical abuse and take strict action in case of such an unwanted incident. If there is a fear of such an incident, they can inform the child helpline number 1098, women helpline number 1091 or police helpline numbers 100, 112.
