Mini kits of winter vegetable seeds available for consumers – Deputy Commissioner
Rupnagar, September 19: With the aim of promoting home gardens, the Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar, Mr. Varjit Walia, today released mini kits of winter vegetable seeds prepared by the Horticulture Department for district Rupnagar.
While releasing the kit, he appealed to the people to plant a home garden in every house and grow poison-free vegetables as per their requirement so that the ill effects of poisons on the human body can be avoided. He said that while these poison-free vegetables provide us with good health, they also benefit us economically.
Mr. Varjit Walia said that by eating fresh and poison-free vegetables, the ability to fight physical diseases increases due to the nutrients it provides and the health remains intact.
On this occasion, Assistant Director Horticulture Department, Rupnagar, Mr. Vijay Pratap, informed that at the household level, pests and diseases in vegetables should be controlled through organic methods and instead of chemical fertilizers, manure and earthworm manure should be used to fulfill the deficiency of necessary elements in the soil/plant.
After this, Horticulture Development Officer, Rupnagar, Dr. Chaturjit Singh Rattan, giving information about the vegetable seed kits, said that seeds of peas, fenugreek, coriander, broccoli, spinach, Chinese mustard, radish, turnip and carrot have been included in this vegetable seed kit. These seeds can be planted in an area of 3-4 marla. In this, about 200-250 kg of vegetables will be produced for a family, which will fulfill the needs of the family.
He informed that these vegetable seed mini kits can be obtained from the District Horticulture Office and Horticulture Offices of various blocks. The price of a vegetable seed kit is Rs. 80.
Horticulture Development Officer Shri Yuvraj and Horticulture Deputy Inspector Shri Sumesh Kumar were also present on this occasion.
