Sri Anandpur Sahib September 30: After the Punjab government announced to purchase the crop of farmers in the state, paddy has started arriving in the grain markets of Sri Anandpur Sahib. As per the directions given by Harjot Singh Bains Cabinet Minister, all facilities have been made available to the farmers in the grain markets, he has given instructions to purchase, lift, make payment of the farmers’ crop on time. All arrangements have been completed in the markets for the convenience of the farmers.
Surinderpal District Mandi Officer said that drinking water, lighting, gunny bags, toilets, tarpaulins have been arranged for the convenience of the farmers in all 12 grain markets of Sri Anandpur Sahib Market Committee. The paddy crop in these grain markets lags behind other grain markets in Punjab, as this area is semi-hilly. Today, 23 metric tons of paddy arrived in the grain market Agampur, out of which 18 metric tons of paddy have been purchased. As per the instructions of the Punjab government, all this paddy has been purchased at the minimum support price. Lifting arrangements have also been made simultaneously. 53 metric tons of paddy have arrived in the grain markets of Sri Anandpur Sahib, out of which 38 metric tons of paddy have been purchased by government procurement agencies at the support price of 2389.
The District Market Officer said that keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers during the procurement season, the Punjab government has made adequate arrangements for the purchase of the paddy crop brought to the markets and for the maintenance of the crop and after the timely procurement of the farmers’ crop, the farmers will be paid within a period of 48 hours.

Secretary Market Committee Narinder Singh said that as per the instructions of the government, the arrangements are complete in all the grain markets, coordination has been made with the officers and agents of the procurement agencies. Laborers have reached the markets, as per the instructions of the government, farmers will not be allowed to face any inconvenience in the grain markets. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varjit Walia has given instructions regarding the purchase of paddy. SDM Mr. Anandpur Sahib Jaspreet Singh has visited the grain markets and reviewed the arrangements. He said that complete arrangements have been made to provide facilities to the farmers during the entire procurement process. He said that farmers have been appealed to bring their paddy to the markets after drying it because it is difficult to sell paddy with high moisture content. Farmers are also appealed to mix crop residues in the fields because setting fire to the fields pollutes the environment and also deteriorates the health of the land.
