Rupnagar, September 29 – A five-day vocational training programme on “Making Sweets for the Festive Season” was organized at KVK Ropar from September 23 to September 29, 2025 under the auspices of Punjab Agricultural University and ICAR-Attari, Zone-1, Ludhiana, which concluded successfully today.
The training programme was led by Dr. Satbir Singh, Associate Director (Training), KVK Ropar. 21 trainees from different villages participated in the programme. Dr. Satbir Singh congratulated the participants and said that Home Science is playing a vital role in making rural women self-reliant, promoting agro-processing through value addition and strengthening the rural economy. They motivated the women to take up this venture by forming small self-help groups.

Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Demonstrator (Home Science) gave practical training to the participants on making different types of sweets like Dhoda Barfi, Bhutkand Laddu, Khoa Laddu, Bundi Laddu, Balushahi, Jaggery Wali Matthi, Matri and Cake etc.
The participants showed keen interest in the programme and assured that they would increase their income by preparing these products at home during the festive season.
