Rupnagar, October 01: Additional District Magistrate Mrs. Pooja Sial Grewal, exercising the powers vested in her under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Act, 2023, has banned the sale of green firecrackers in the general markets of district Rupnagar as well as the manufacture, storage, purchase and sale of dangerous, chemical firecrackers etc. (unauthorized).
She said that the festival of Diwali is approaching and people generally use firecrackers, fireworks and many other such materials to celebrate this festival. She said that where there is noise and alcohol with such firecrackers, pollution also spreads. He said that apart from this, there had also been incidents of fire during bursting of firecrackers etc. on this festival in the past.
He informed that by the orders of the government, the time for bursting firecrackers within the limits of district Rupnagar on the day of Diwali on 20th October has been fixed from 08:00 pm to 10:00 pm, on the occasion of Gurpurab on 05th November from 04:00 am to 05:00 am (one hour), from 09.00 pm to 10:00 pm (one hour), on the occasion of Christmas on 25th December (midnight) from 11:55 am to 12:30 am and on the occasion of New Year on 31st December from 11.55 pm to 12:30 am.
He informed that some places have been fixed for selling small firecrackers in district Rupnagar. He said that these firecrackers can be sold at Lahiri Shah Mandir and Nehru Stadium near Ram Lila Ground in Rupnagar Sub-Division, Giani Jail Singh Nagar Market Parking, Beant Singh Aman Nagar Market Parking, Rupnagar.
Similarly, small firecrackers can be sold at City Center (Ground) Shri Chamkaur Sahib at Sri Chamkaur Sahib.
These firecrackers can be sold at Bus Stand Morinda near Ram Lila Ground in Morinda Sub-Division.
These firecrackers can be purchased at Nurpur Bedi near (Post Office/Rupnagar Road) in Sri Anandpur Sahib, near Parking Place near Charan Ganga Stadium Shri Anandpur Sahib, near Sheetla Mata Mandir Kiratpur Sahib on the outside of Kiratpur Sahib.
In Nangal Sub-Division, Market Sector-2 Nia Nangal, near BSNL Exchange Nangal, near Market in front of Gurdwara Singh Sabha Nangal and near Water Tank DS. Small firecrackers will be allowed to be sold in Block Nangal.
This order will come into effect from today.
