Rupnagar, September 29: A special meeting was held at BDPO Office Ropar under the leadership of District Legal Services Authority Rupnagar Secretary Mrs. Amandeep Kaur. In which Sarpanches of various villages of Rupnagar block participated.
The main objective of this meeting was to ensure access to free legal aid to the people at the village level and to spread awareness about the public welfare schemes being run by NALSA.
On this occasion, Amandeep Kaur explained in detail to the Sarpanches present how needy families and individuals can get legal aid without any cost. The Sarpanches were given these guidelines to provide information about these schemes to the people in their villages and cooperate in making them aware.
On this occasion, NALSA/DLSA Information was given about the main schemes being run by the Department, including the Scheme for Women and Children – Protection of the rights of women and children and providing free legal aid to them, Scheme for Under-Trial Prisoners, Legal aid to prisoners who are still awaiting the decision of the case, Alternative Dispute Resolution (Lok Adalats/Mediation) – Cheap, fast and easy resolution of minor disputes of the people, etc.
